MV Mediation is pleased to announce a $2,500 grant from the Martha’s Vineyard Bank Charitable Foundation to support the Youth Mediation Program and Peace Curriculum. The Peace Curriculum, developed by Executive Director Sara Barnes, is a 10-week conflict resolution and positive communication program designed to teach conflict resolution to the students of Martha’s Vineyard. Using integrative and hands-on activities, students learn to apply skills to resolve conflict in their day-to-day lives.

We are finishing up with the 4th grades at the Edgartown School. Next comes the 3rd grade. We are working on making a role play video with the Charter School group. Our plan next school year is to expand our reach. Do you know of a school where our work is needed? We'd like to get started early in the school year.
The missing element of re-entry services for incarcerated people in MA is the pro-social element. The Re-entry Mediation Program (ReMAp) focuses on this element, provided by a network of community mediation centers under a program administered by the MA Office of Public Collaboration at the McCormack Graduate School.
Join a group reading the 1977 book by Milton Mazer, founder of MV Community Services. The book is People and Predicaments. Although this book is based on 45-year-old research, we are going to read it from a historical and cultural perspective. We can provide a copy via PDF or provide you with information on how to borrow from the library or purchase.
In March we collaborated with MV Community Services Island Wide Youth Collaborative and hosted a Teens Life Skills Workshop. Teens participated in interactive conversation and activities where they learned how to make a budget and understand the difference between needs and wants concerning finances and their implication in conflicts and disputes.

The MV Mediation Youth Program will teach the processes of conflict resolution and interactive workshops, activities, games, discussions, and role plays, leading to students' awareness of conflict resolution tools and strategies.
Join a cohort of Martha’s Vineyard managers and supervisors in a virtual, weekly confidential cohort. Participants receive support and insight into their workplace dilemmas and utilize the case study model in an interactive and participatory process. The text will be provided. All classes will be via zoom.

The Introduction to Mediation course is a 30-hour course taught in two sections. The first 15 hours is Mediation Basics. The second 15 hours is Mediation Qualification. Participants who complete both sections will apprentice, if desired, with MV Mediation in order to become a qualified mediator in Massachusetts.
